Thee Imperial in Jacksonville is Closing Down For Good?
Updates Are At The Bottom Of The Post
In preparation for today’s show at Thee Imperial featuring The Acacia Strain, Despised Icon, and others, my buddy mentioned Thee Imperial might shut down. Here are some of the user comments on Thee Imperial’s myspace page.

I almost cried when I heard you guys are closing down…So many memories there…Thanks for supporting my band Zeromus (among many other bands ive played with) so much and all the bad ass shows you guys hooked us up with. I hope you guys show them whats up at Fuel and I cant wait to play with you guys again.
What gives? What do these people know that my buddy and I don’t? This is the one time I do wish I had a myspace account. There’s no information on their myspace page about why the place is closing down, but this definitely sucks! Thee Imperial is one of a kind here in the Florida Panhandle, so what now?
We’re still heading to Jacksonville here shortly, so expect an update later on. My only guess is the place doesn’t make enough cash to pay the monthly rent. If anyone can provide some details, please comment here.
4:19 am, What a Night
So the entire show was way better than expected, and compared to Thee Imperial, Fuel Coffee House at 1037 Park Street was really awesome. I was unaware the place existed until today, but hopefully there are many more good shows to come. The six hour drive and having to goto work in three hours was worth the entire experience.
The Acacia Strain is definitely a band to see live, they put on an amazing show. When a fight broke out amongst some kids in the crowd, guitarist Daniel Laskiewicz stopped playing and commanded them to stop. I’m not going to quote him here, but his reaction to the outburst definitely commanded respect. Once the trouble makers starting leaving, drummer Kevin Boutot counted off, and the band picked up right where they left off.

All of the Thee Imperial shows seemed to have moved to Fuel Coffee House - http://www.fuelin5pts.com/
Florida’s Panhandle includes only the sixteen westernmost counties in the state, traveling as far east as Jefferson county. That’s four counties shy of Duval. You fail at geography, n00b. =P
