Never Too Early For New Years Resolutions

Last night while laying in bed I thought about some of the goals I’d like to accomplish within the next year. Goals are important and almost necessary to accomplish anything worth while. In no particular order:

  • Discontinue using my credit card for physical merchandise
  • Instead, invest in on-line ventures (affiliate marketing, stock trading, etc)
  • Finalize my web design startup (web site, legal paper work, etc)
  • Setup a network of affiliate sites with the intention of generating a minimum revenue of $13.70 per day
  • Establish and maintain a discussion forum of some kind
  • Decrease total monthly expenditures
  • Develop a better grasp of either PHP or Ruby

Based on this list it’s obvious I’m a geek. The majority of my day is spent in front of my workstations, but for good reason. Sometimes a big social life is desired, but exercising my patience will pay off when watching the sun set from my home in the tropics becomes a daily routine. The short term goals listed above will eventually give me the ability to fulfill long term goals like buying my mom a much deserved Mercedes-Benz (her dream car) and a home to match. That’s the plan anyway.

To accomplish my new years resolutions will require a lot of self discipline and determination. This means not wasting time on facebook and myspace, which I’ve managed to stay away from so far, mindlessly responding to friend requests and comments. Totally eliminating television, which also isn’t a big problem, and limiting the amount of time allocated to Counter Strike: Source. I’ve managed to limit real life communications to a limited group of individuals: colleagues during work hours, my girlfriend, two people I consider friends, and of course my family. Although the lack of a social life is potentially unhealthy, my sacrifice will pay off, and only then will worry free socializing occur. Until then, working from 7am to 11pm, and sometimes past midnight, will remain my life.

What’s your new years resolution, or resolutions?

I’d like to… -finish my AA -pay off credit card debt and only put on as much as I can pay off every month -learn web design and create a site of my own (or at least have a blog) -exercise! and eat healthier - NO FAST FOOD -eat out less -have a higher paying job by the end of the year -and of course, reduce my monthly expenditures

Ok so after much pondering I’ve finally compiled a list of my resolutions (I know you’ve been waiting)… Lets get the obvious ones out of the way first: *1* I WILL lose weight before my mom’s wedding in August (I’m the maid of honor). Even though I love love LOVE the thought of having disgusting pictures of me floating around eternally, I’m already on this one and have lost 15 pounds since just before Thanksgiving. *2* Of course I want to save money this year and will do so by going out less, and not charging anything (ha). *3* I want to learn a bit of HTML… even if only for the use of making my MySpace cooler than everyone else’s (I know you love to hear that, Mr. Anti-MySpace). *4* Most importantly… I’m going to be doing everything in my power to have a job in Atlanta before the end of 2008. I already have a place lined up to stay, so I have no excuses. Hopefully I’ll be able to stay in the field I’m in currently… but who knows! 2008 should be an exciting year! Best of luck to you, Guy!
