Netnanny And The Like Actually Pervert The Minds of Children

To prevent an immature audience from experiencing such devilish things, software has been developed to block or disable these obscenities from being displayed. These programs limit a person’s ability to enjoy and search or browse the Internet. Attempting to write a school research paper can be difficult when using words such as: minor, 18, racism, and breast cancer.

The people that develop Internet filtering software put censorship on many things that don’t need it. Being inaccurate can cause a lack of resources when trying to construct an essay or a research paper. If when doing research on Juvenal offenses you search using the word “minor”, the school’s filtering software will alert you with an explanation of pornography, explicit content and even inappropriate language.

Many people get this software to prevent their children from seeing inappropriate content. The software even claims to give you control of your own computer! Computers work off simple decisions known as the binary system. When you get behind the console of a computer, it is at your command. You are the one in control, not anyone else. This can be compared to someone creating a gizmo that would allow you to control your vehicle while driving. Don’t you already control your vehicle while driving? Why would you need this software to allow you to control what is displayed when you already have the control?

The mind develops at a young age when the brain is moist like a sponge waiting to be drenched in knowledge. Why limit that source of knowledge? Why put a boundary on the unlimited edges of the mind? By leaving that empty gap of mystery in a child’s mind, you leave their imagination to run free, which can be dangerous.

Promote growth and knowledge and you will promote a healthy future. Many people don’t have the ability to travel, making them culturally disadvantaged. The Internet allows you to travel anywhere you’d like at the click of a button. How or why would anyone try to prevent this from happening? The information superhighway contains several bad ideas, images, and even teaching; but how can you know the good if you don’t know the bad?

The Internet is something that isn’t going to vanish anytime soon and will continue to expand for years to come. When the military originally designed the Internet to withstand the force of a nuclear weapon, they weren’t playing.

It seems that the people of today have become so concerned about preserving innocence and ridding the world of bad, that they no longer enjoy the good. People complain everyday about how work sucks, school sucks, and life sucks, and just everything sucks. Reason being, they have never experienced what is truly bad. How many times have you seen an American kid refuse the food in front of him or her claiming it’s icky or tastes bad? How many times have you seen an Ethiopian refuse the food put in front of him or her? To truly enjoy the good, you must get a taste of the bad.

With the fate of the world revolving around the Internet, denying the future leaders of our world the ability to seek informaiton freely can easily be compared to communist China. Limiting minds will limit our future.
