Linux Requires Windows - No, Seriously

Just when you thought you’ve seen everything, the Internet comes to the rescue. Enter: jerryleecooper and boy he sure has a special treat for everyone. Here’s an excerpt of this guy’s beautiful logic.

You are kidding arent you ? Are you saying that this linux can run on a computer without windows underneath it, at all ? As in, without a boot disk, without any drivers, and without any services ?

That’s awesome. This guy really typed this long, no fact mentioning response to an article published on zdnet. I would love to have an opportunity to talk to this guy face to face. If he’s got this type of knowledge, there’s no telling what else he’s hiding from the rest of the world. Who would have thought, Linux NEEDS Windows to run! Does that mean BSD needs OSX to run?! Aaww, so much to ponder.

Let me get one thing out in the open - some people don’t deserve the oxygen they’re breathing. “Wow, what a mean thing to say,” but think about this for a second. This guy has the Internet at his fingertips, could have easily performed a little research, but chose not to. Instead, he decided to sound like a complete moron. How is he still alive?

There was a time when netcraft would return results of hotmail.com running BSD. This web server is powered by Linux, hell, even fox news is running Ubuntu, one of the many Linux distros available.

A guy named cipher wrote this in response:

*sigh* ZDNet should be allowed to delete so blatantly false posts to save jerryleecooper the humiliation of Internet infamy in years to come.

So I continued reading the user comments (they’re the best) and jerryleecooper decided to speak, again, uninformed. Here’s the excerpt:

Vista is the Future - jerryleecooper - 03/13/07

Its clearly evident that vista is the future. One only has to watch TV for a short period of time and see the advertising. WOW !! I personally love the part where the young man is taking a stroll in the delightful snow covered streets, and sees firsthand a young deer with a gleefull glint in its eye. It sends a shiver down my spine. WOW is all I can say. Vista is clearly the future of enterprise computing.

Yea, because a TV commercial of a kid strolling through the snow seeing a deer is undeniable proof and will definitely provide substantial evidence as to why Vista will become king. Again, stop breathing, jerry. Vista has one of the lowest adoption rates with over 40 major companies and 3 or more government agencies already saying they’re not migrating to this piece of crap. Why? Because they did their research instead of examining the yellow snow your deer left behind… dolt.

Perhaps jerry would see the light if he saw a Linux commercial of a bear shitting in the woods? Nah, that’s clearly to easy. Don’t get me wrong here, there’s no denying the effectiveness of Microsoft’s Enterprise suite, it really is a beautiful setup when implemented properly. Props to Microsoft for that.

Jerry’s madness doesn’t stop there, here’s another moronic claim:

It wont be long until Windows XP is no longer supported, and when that happens, what is Linux going to do ? Linux will have to find a way to work under Vista from here on, since it wont be able to rely on XP being readily available anymore.

Will this guy ever stop? Apparently not, there’s even an unofficial fan site.
