How To Get Included In The Google Index In 48 Hours Or Less

Nearly all webmasters know getting indexed in Google is a number one priority when launching a web-site, but some people find the process extremely difficult, even tricky. Most will agree the best type of traffic is search engine traffic. The people using Google and other search engines depend on relevant results to find the information they need - this is the type of traffic almost all webmasters want. Close to 70% of all Nullamatix.com’s traffic comes from Google, and looking at the search terms provided, the visitors are finding the information they want, which means Google is doing their job effectively. So here’s what I normally do to have a site indexed in 48 hours or less.

1. Establish A Few Backlinks

This is relatively easy. Once your site is up and in production mode, submit the main page to social networking sites like Digg, delicious, sphinn, and any other social link sharing sites you may participate in. If you’re a member of a discussion forum or forums, add your site’s link to your signature. This is a great idea because your link is placed on every page you’ve ever posted to on that forum. If you have an established and indexed site in Google already, just link to your new site from the established site. Backlinks (without the link tag rel=”nofollow”) will present the new site to Google’s indexing bot - this is what you’re after. This lets Google know the site exists, and unless there’s a link to the new site on an already indexed site, Google’s bot has no way of knowing the new site exists.

2. Sign Up For Google Webmaster Tools

Once signed up, login and add a site to your dashboard. Verify ownership by adding the special meta tag or creating a file with the filename they provide. Now that you’ve let Google know you own that site, head over to XML-Sitemaps.com and follow their instructions. Upload the uncompressed sitemap.xml file to your site’s root directory, for example: http://www.your-domain.com/sitemap.xml. Back to the webmaster tools dashboard, under sitemaps, click add to add a sitemap for your recently verified site. Sit back and let Google examine your sitemap. Check back 15-30 minutes later to make sure there weren’t any errors. Providing a sitemap further lets Google know your site exists, and which pages are important.

3. Continue Establishing Backlinks

A great way to build backlinks are site directories. There are hundreds of thousands of free directories available. Here’s what I was able to locate with a simple Google search.

Continuous, slow development of backlinks is vital to a sites success. Once you’re indexed, adding backlinks will ensure your sites survival and increase traffic. Submit new stories to Digg, add them to your delicious bookmarks, even stumble your pages. The process is tedious, but until authority is established and people start naturally linking to your site, keep building backlinks - they can’t hurt your site.

So that’s it. Sit back and wait. Hopefully Google’s bot will visit your site via the Digg submission, or a forum signature, and start grabbing the site’s content. If your server logs show the bot as a visitor, and the bot likes what was on the site, congratulations, you’re golden. Any tips or suggestions of your own? Have a question or comment? Would be nice if you didn’t no follow the links. You followed the xml link but not the others. Any reason why?

My reasoning is because I don’t know the site owners or the promotional tactics they use. For all I know they’re implementing strategies that Google may deem inappropriate, and I’d prefer them to not recognize my site as part of their inappropriate strategies/activities.

What do you care? Do you own one of the sites I linked to? If that’s the case and you’d rather I link elsewhere, please let me know. I’ll happily swap your link for another site.

XML-Sitemaps received a dofollow because I believe in what they’re doing. They provide a quality service that encourages the use of Google sitemaps, so no quarrel with Google there. In addition, they rank very highly in the SERPS and have thousands of natural links. No need for devious/blackhat tactics on their part.

Can anyone help me get www.obamacan.com recognized by Google? It’s now on cash parking at GoDaddy. Thanks!

richety,

First, get rid of the cash parking at GoDaddy and get a real site up. Google isn’t going to index that mess.

MR SEO is a creditable resource especially if you found him. If you type MR SEO in you’ll see the site is trusted by Google by how the site links show up.

If you find things to be a good resource and write about at least follow the links. If you’re going to no follow them, don’t use them.

Jake,

I don’t see the logic in the statement, “If you’re going to no follow them, don’t use them.” Why not? A link is a link, and just because the link doesn’t pass pagerank isn’t enough justification as to why it fails to provide value. Why are you even concerned about Mr. SEO? Also, the last time I checked this is my blog.

Have a nice day,

-Guy
